In this blog I am going to talk about the primary research that I used for my Art-portfolio final project but before telling what was my primary research I am going to discuss the meaning of Primary Research.
So primary research is one of the research methods that includes the gathering of fresh data like collecting the data first time and the secondary research is a research method which includes the use of data, already collected through primary research.
I am going to design a mosque for my major project by using Renaissance theme, during the week 4 of Art-Portfolio I went to Paris to meet with family. I saw very beautiful and important buildings in Paris. Moreover we went to Louvre museum for sightseeing and I saw lots of famous paint by Leonardo Da Vinci to be honest it was very impressive work.
While visiting the Louvre Museum I took lot of photo of the museum because I find the design of the museum is similar with my design that I will do for my final project.
Here is the photos that I captured and my views of this museum;
Is it seen able that they used arches as a design and the columns have detail, I believe that I can use these architectural styles for my final project. For instance I can design a huge arch just for entry that will look similar with that.
Here is the interior of the museum, a window blind or shutter with horizontal slats that are angled to admit light and air which I might use for my design. They used again arches for the interior which I found very interesting because its all symmetric like Palladio's style so I think this primary research will help a lot to understand the actually heights, the details and materials that used for these types of buildings.

Actually this louvre museum was royal palace. As it seen from the photos that I captured, the palace has the taste of the monarch which is from Italian Renaissance style. To talk about in architectural terms, the Louvre is made of cut stone and is a vast complex of wings and pavilions on four main levels. There are a great triumphal arch in front of the façade which makes the building aesthetic and also the whole building is symmetry like Andrea Palladio’s style. So this primary research will help me to understand the size, the shape and the details of the arches that I will use for my design as I mentioned.
I am going to update my blog by posting about my final sketch design and few more researches.
So a follow up to this post would be secondary research into the creation of the Louvre and the architects that designed it. The building was begun in 1190! It was developed over the period of several centuries and had a number of different architects work on its design over the years. Choose one period to focus on and discuss the architectural style and how it developed.
