Week 5 was our skill week so we have looked at different ways of creating perspective using one, two and three points that we learned from last term. Also we created a series of simple perspective drawings.
For these urban sketches we went outside onto the our University’s campus and pick a location to draw. Lastly we used Ink Pen for the drawings.
Urban sketching is really useful for Architecture, its tend to focus on street scenes and the urban environment. The Urban Sketchers Movement started in 2007 and is now a global community. The emphasis of the group was to share sketches drawn from life and on location, not from memory and not from photos.
Here I have used the loose method drawing and I believe it’s a useful to develop and it helps me to record visual information quickly and I painted the drawing with water colour.
This is my second attempt with loose method drawing, I used ink Pen for the drawing.
Furthermore, our teacher gave us a paper that was showing the elevations of the house, the elevation drawings are unlike floor-plans that are drawing from bird’s eye view of a building, elevation drawings are drawn looking at a structure from the front or side.
First I start to cut my board by using the scales of the house, I used craft knife, B-pencil , safety ruler and of course cutting mat. Step by step I will show you how I did my small house model.
Here is the final version of my model
This Skill Week was very helpful and fun, I really enjoyed while doing all of these sketches and model. I am definitely use these new skills that I have learned for my final project and I am sure that the exercises we have done will contribute a lot to my progression route (Architecture) that I will study for next year.
Both of these techniques are things that you will use on unde3rgraduate. However, they both apply to this terms project. Making concept sketches using pen and watercolour is a fairly quick way to render an idea. IT is also good practise in order to help you understand space and depth. Working on the concept model too will help you to understand how to use materials and realise space. Make this post more relevant to the project you are working on this term!
