In this blog would like to talk about the Anatomy of Mosque, as I am going to design Mosque and I need know every part of the building. I will label and talk about the parts of mosque by looking to blue mosque that located in Istanbul.
The first one is called, cresent moon;
The crescent moon, used in determining the start and end of Islamic months in the Hijri calendar. Also crescent moon and stars are symbols relating to the greatness of the creator.
The second one is called Minaret;
The third one is called Ablution Area;
Ablution area is a dedicated space for performing ritual cleansing before Muslim prayer. On the other some this cleansing is known as ‘wudu’ or ‘ablution’, and involves washing the hands, face, arms and feet. It is an integral part of the Islamic faith.
Lastly the fourth one is called Dome;
Most mosques also include one or more domes and also in Arabic its called qubba.The Dome as a symbolic representation of the vault of heaven. The interior decoration of a dome often emphasizes this symbolism, using complex geometric, stellate, or vegetal themes to produce stunning patterns created to inspire and awe. Some mosque types incorporate multiple domes into their architecture as in the Blue Mosque as used it for label.
Okay, but show your referencing as well. There are other elements more than these four you could focus on such as the mihrab. There are two separate domes as well, the Mihrab dome (needs to face in the direction of Mecca) and the porch dome, found out what shady arcades are for and the minbar (basically a pulpit).
